Summary

Features for end-users

  1. Channel & Talkgroup Management per Zone

In traditional LMR systems, a Zone refers to a logical or geographical grouping of talkgroups/channels configured by the administrator for a specific mission. This concept helps limit user communications to only the groups relevant to a specific mission. This functionality is now also available in Team on mission (TOM), bringing the same efficiency and mission-oriented communication to broadband environments.

  • The user can select a zone and will automatically be connected to the talkgroups/channels assigned to it.
  • Access to zones is available from both mobile and web applications.
  • Zone configuration is managed exclusively by the organization administrator.

Benefits:

  • Users are automatically connected to the necessary talkgroups and channels relevant to a mission, allowing them to focus only on those needed for their specific tasks.

  1. Scan List

A Scan List is a predefined list of channels or talkgroups that a device continuously monitors for activity. It is mainly used for temporary missions and can be created either by the user or by an administrator.

  • Users can connect to and listen to all channels and talkgroups included in the Scan List.
  • Scan Lists are accessible from both mobile and web applications.

Benefits:

  • Users can create and manage their own Scan Lists for greater flexibility.

Note: a user cannot select a Zone and a Scan List simultaneously.

  1. De-affiliation from Prearranged PTT Group Calls

This feature gives users more flexibility and control over the group calls they receive, allowing them to decide whether or not to remain affiliated with certain groups.
  • Previously, when a user was a member of a group, they were automatically affiliated with that group and received all calls launched to it.
  • Starting from version 4.3, users can now choose to de-affiliate from selected groups directly from their mobile or web application. Once de-affiliated, the user will no longer receive calls sent to those groups.
Benefits:
  • Users can filter and control the group calls they want to receive.

  1. Dynamic Group Call based on user Operational Status

  • Administrators can now define filter rules on a group based on members’ operational status.
  • Only members whose operational status matches the group’s configuration will receive calls on this group.
  • This dynamic selection of participants can be applied to PTT group calls and conference calls.
  • Dynamic selection of participants can also be enabled for group calls initiated by external callers via the PBX interface.
Benefits:
  • Ensures that group calls reach only the relevant users, based on their operational status.

  1. AI-Powered Noise Reduction

Mobile users can enable the ambient noise reduction option in voice settings. When activated, AI-powered audio filters (RNNoise.) reduce background noise and suppress unwanted sounds such as howling, ensuring clearer voice communication.

  • Improved Call Quality: Ensures voices are heard clearly even in noisy environments, enhancing the overall call experience.
  • AI-Powered Technology: Uses advanced AI (RNNoise) to intelligently filter out unwanted sounds for smarter, more efficient noise reduction.
  • Reduced Distractions: Minimizes environmental noise, making calls more professional and enjoyable.
  • Automatic Noise Suppression: Detects and suppresses consistent background sounds (e.g., howling, hums) without affecting voice clarity.

  1. New Call Logs Tab

Users now have access to a dedicated Call Logs page from both the mobile and web applications.
  • The Call Logs tab displays all ongoing calls and the user’s complete call history, including incoming, outgoing, and missed calls.
  • It supports all call types: PTT calls, full-duplex calls, conference calls, and PBX calls.
Benefits:
  • Provides users with a clear overview of all past calls, including time, date, and duration.
  • Offers a simple and convenient way to call back directly from the Call Logs tab.

  1. New Dialer accessible from mobile navigation menu

Users can now configure the Dialer to appear as a dedicated tab in the navigation menu of the mobile application.

Benefits:

  • Provides one-click access to the dialer, enabling users to quickly dial numbers to call.

ADMINISTRATION FEATURES

  1. Update Geolocation & Webchat User Status via a file

Administrators can now enable or disable Geolocation and Webchat for multiple selected users in a single operation. Benefits:
  • Saves time by avoiding the need to update the Geolocation and Webchat user status user by user.

Technical features

  1. Rx support for signaling flow and MCData

  • In addition to RTP media flows, the MCX server supports now Rx for signaling flow (mobile users in ACM mode only) and MCData (text messages and file attachments) via AAR/AAA/STR exchanges over Rx. Integration testing required for this feature.
  • This feature is supported on TOM mobile clients and is compliant with 3GPP TS 29.214 Release 18.

  1. Limit Rx allocations per device

  • This feature enforces a restriction at the Rx interface level, ensuring that only one active Rx session is maintained per mobile device at a time regardless of the number of audio/video sessions for that device.

Benefits:

  • Improves LTE network efficiency by limiting each mobile device to a single active Guaranteed Bit Rate (GBR) bearer at a time.

  1. eMBMS: Dynamic eMBMS Deactivation Based on Number of Connected Group Member Threshold

  • A new threshold is now configurable by the admin, below which the current established eMBMS mechanism will be disabled for the related audio/video group calls.

Benefits:

  • A new threshold is now configurable by the admin, below which the current established eMBMS mechanism will be disabled for the related audio/video group calls.

  1. Linux VoIP Library

  • The VoIP Linux library allows integrators to easily embed MCX Server voice and video services into their Linux-based applications — such as apps running in transportation terminals, train cockpits, etc.
  • Delivered as a compiled library (.a and/or .so upon request), the package includes all necessary dependencies and is compatible with MCX Server version 4.0 and above. It leverages third-party libraries (LGPL, BSD or MIT licenses).
  • To ensure smooth delivery and compatibility, integrators are required to provide detailed specifications of their target environment in advance—including CPU architecture, toolchain, and libc version—as tailored compilation is needed to match each deployment.
Please note: Integrators are responsible for implementing the audio and video Inputs/ Outputs.

ARCHITECTURE

  1. Introducing 3-VLAN Separation with a 3-Tier Security Model

Introducing 3-VLAN Separation with a 3-Tier Security Model
Starting with v4.3, the platform adopts a 3-VLAN architecture (replacing the previous 2-VLAN model) to enhance security and improve network isolation. This applies to standard websplit, active-active, and active-standby deployments.

  • Public VLAN (Frontend):
Exposes only the services required by end users and clients:
    • Webchat
    • Mobile app access
    • SwAPI (external API for integrations)
    • Frontend services
  • Internal VLAN (Backend & Management):
    • All backend and management access is restricted to the internal VLAN
    • Used for platform management and administration tools: Company Admin, Superadmin, and Centreon (monitoring).
    • Used for Internal Servers Communications
    • Frontend Backup
  • Private VLAN:
    • Dedicated to database and storage services
    • DB & Backend Backup

  1. Migration to MariaDB for WebSplit architecture

  • Drivers:
    • Independence from commercial licensing constraints
    • Consistency across our solution, since MariaDB is already used in some modules, simplifying installation and upgrade procedures and improving overall maintainability
  • Impact:
    • Installation procedures
    • Backup & restore
    • For TOM existing customers: migration will be planned starting v4.4
    • For new TOM customers: starting v4.3, MariaDB will be the only supported database

  1. New module / interface

  • RX Proxy
    • Hosted on Frontend as a service (new VM in the future)
    • Introduced to limit the number of simultaneous GBR (Guaranteed Bit Rate) bearers allocated to a device due to network constraints (limit of bearers on LTE/5G device)

SECURITY FEATURES

  1. STREAMWIDE KMS Server

  • Standards-Compliant Web Services:
The KMS server exposes 3GPP-compliant web services, enabling authorized entities – such as MCPTT clients – to retrieve setup information via InitRequest and securely obtain key material through KeyProvRequest.
  • Subscriber authentication:
Authentication leverages OpenID Connect (OIDC) using JWTs (JSON Web Tokens). JWT signature validation is performed locally using the OIDC public certificate, without querying the OpenID Provider each time.
  • External accounting:
All key material requests are logged and forwarded to a syslog server for secure, tamper-proof storage.

Benefits:

  • The KMS server centrally manages the lifecycle of cryptographic keys (generation, distribution, and storage) used for end-to-end encryption in MCX communications. It guarantees that encryption and authentication mechanisms remain compliant with 3GPP TS 33.180 standards.

  1. Disable Screenshot for iOS app

  • An organization can now decide to prevent iOS user from taking screenshots of the application.
  • Note: The feature was already available on Android
Benefit:
  • Integrators are responsible for implementing the audio and video Inputs/ Outputs.

RECORDER FEATURES

  • Audit Server now allows auditors to retrieve the two tracks (video and audio) of a 1to1 video calls.
  • SIPREC Enhancement to deliver new real-time media types The following new call types are now sent in real time via SIPREC to an external SIPREC server
